Skyward Sword

Hasn't been a thread for this yet, so I've decided to go ahead and make one.

So what is everyone's opinion on this game? So far, I've found it to be pretty fun. The enemies actually require some strategy to beat, and I've found myself needing potions a lot more than in the other games. I'm up to about 30 hours into the game, and it's absolutely incredible. I've heard the game can even go on for 70+ hours, so this could possibly be the longest Zelda game in the franchise. Overall, I think this is a great game, and it's definitely buying if you haven't already.

I bought it but I can't play it :V
The reason this is the longest game is because it's had the largest development team ever in the history of a Nintendo game
Which is still pretty small for today's standards of triple A titles :v
It's amazing though I want to play it

I think that's 70+ hours including new game + which is literally just the same game a second time but with double damage.  So really you're sitting on about 35 hours which sounds pretty average for a zelda game.

It was fun.  I didn't agree with every decision they made with it (no hyrule field? only one town? having to replay old dungeons? only four areas? etc. etc.) but despite all my gripes it was pretty enjoyable.  I didn't have any problems with the motion controls though apparently a lot of other people did.

Also whoever said earlier in a different thread that they were 20 hours in and not yet to the second dungeon: when I was 20 hours in I had done five dungeons so I don't know how you can suck that badly...

Also Groose is the best character ever ever ever.

Also also the timeshift stones are probably the coolest gameplay element any zelda game has had to date and I loved every single part that used them.

Only 35 hours? Wow you're fast. My cousin spent probably about 20 hours and he finished the third dungeon.
I like to take my time when I play games too so I take forever.

Also I can play Groose's theme on my trombone and it actually sounds pretty good

I did all the sidequests too, since I loved Batreaux too much to leave him hanging.  I also fully upgraded all my gear. Only things I didn't do besides new game + were the boss rush and the ^#@%ING SILENT REALM speedruns.

I hate the silent realm stuff so much by the way.  Absolute worst idea anyone has ever had for a zelda game ever.  Seriously.  Every time I played them I just wondered who was the genius that thought that weaponless stealth with superfast phantoms that go through walls mixed with the tear collection from twilight princess would somehow be a good idea.  Because he should be fired.  Unless it's miyamoto in which case I guess he should just be smacked around a bit.  Seriously.

Just thought I would let you no that my signature has no good features and that if you are reading this you should stop. If you are still reading I urge you to stop as you are wasting you time and effort on something that is utterly point less and you could be doing something you enjoy right now rather then read my signature on a forum and don't lie we all know no one wants to do that and absolutely everybody has something better to do. If you are still not sure what to do maybe read the next persons post or make your own response. If you read all of this you are a very strange person. Because it was a waste of time it had no point, see ya.

I have the music CD and the gold Wii remote too! Unfortunately, my Wii is broken, so I can't play it right now.

Well, it's one of the best Zelda games currently out there. How about looking at gameplay videos, or... *shudders* ...reviews?

GameSpot gave it a 7.5 and a lot of people raged on the site.

I get the impression that most people have absolutely no idea how much effort is put into making games.

I've been a Zelda fan for (subjectively) 90% of my life. I have played and beat most of them. The reason I say that Skyward Sword is one of the best (in my opinion) is due to of a lot of contributing factors: the story really ties into other Zelda games and shows how the legacy began. There are some very interesting and unexpected plot twists, too. Gameplay-wise, it's very challenging (and I won't even begin to speak about Hero mode); from dungeons to boss battles, all of it can't simply be walked out of easily. The music is as ambient as always and goes well with the beautiful and fantastic scenery. Zelda's prettier than ever, and even the main antagonist is, eerily, a likable character.

As for the things I personally didn't like with the game, I was a little upset that there weren't more areas to travel to. Fi (the essence of the master sword and the hero's aid) is a cool character, but she can get kind of annoying with her tendency to point out the obvious. I also felt like some things were left unexplained.

Overall, I think if people could just stop and think for a moment to admire the little things in a game and all the hard work developers put into games, there wouldn't be so much to complain about. I paid $70 for my copy, which came with the golden Wii remote and the bonus soundtrack; and I have to say that it was a $70 well spent.

I apologize for the long passage, but I do feel strongly about this since Skyward Sword is like a shining ray of hope compared to all the garbage out there today.
