Internet sound help?

Postby PengiKirby » Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:59 pm

i know that there is absolutely nothing anyone here can do about this, but it's starting to get extremely annoying.
every once in a while, my internet's sound just turns off. not my computer, just my internet. everything else works fine.
the only way to fix it is to restart my browser, then it just happens again. when i switch from firefox to chrome, same thing happens. haven't tried it with IE, but i assume the same thing will happen. i'm not desperate enough to test it.
this doesn't happen on my mac laptop or my sister's W7 laptop, or any other computers that i know of. it's been happening for a long time, and it's much too frequent for my tastes. often, to watch a video, i have to download it to hear anything.
(which raises another problem. sometimes, upon opening any files, nothing will run in windows media player due to an error, and trying it in vlc makes my computer's layout to switch to vista basic and then will only play sound, no video. the only way to stop it is to restart my computer. thank god i installed quicktime, which doesn't have any problems like that to my current knowledge)
does anyone know any kind of fix for this? anything would be helpful.
thanks.
Because PengiKirby said so.

Try checking your sound card. I had a similiar problem [But it was with steam] i assumed it was my headphones, which i changed, but it was my sound card.

erm... i'm sorry but i really know nothing about computers (which is why i'm asking for help) and... um... where is the sound card...?

yes, completely. sometimes it's working, but then it just cuts out randomly.

I took mine down to one of my friends [Jahos909] dad, who is great with computers, i think you would need to take your computer down to an expert and tell them the problem.
