My laptop is a great gaming platform, it can run minecraft wonderfully with the highest settings on. It also has a higher quality capture card than my desktop.

Also, slightly on-topic question: 7 GBs of RAM is good, right?

What type of RAM
Minecraft isn't that demanding either. Can it run Portal or Portal 2 on full settings without lag? If it can do that then it's a good gaming platform.

I think Minecraft is more demanding than Portal. My desktop ran portal at full speed with full settings, but it can't run minecraft worth crap :v

that's ''generally'' the case. it's not fair to say it like it's factual knowledge that desktops are faster than laptops.
justice always prevails, because the victor claims justice.

science has shown that the first people were black. guess that means god is black.

Cutting-edge desktops are much faster than cutting-edge laptops...

You don't need to know the type of RAM. 7GB is good.

It all depends on your rig. In a sense desktops are superior to laptops, but if your desktop is a year old with standard specs and your laptop is brand new with the highest specs in the market right now then obviously the laptop would surpass your old desktop. Unless, of course, you upgrade your desktop.

No matter any limit, if both the desktop and laptop have the highest available specs in the market right now the desktop would still surpass the laptop because of limitations.

7 GB is good yes, but the faster ones are better.

I have 6 GB DDR2 so it's not lightning fast but it works fine for gaming.
