Anyone interested in working on a game?

Postby mamthew42 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 7:24 am

All right, haven't been around in a while, but...

I'm making a 3D rail shooter game, as part of a game studio I'm currently working to get off the ground. I have a summary written up, as well as a programmer and a composer lined up to work on it, but I need an art director. I need someone with a good eye for aesthetics who can come up with character and enemy designs and work to make sure everything looks like parts of the same whole. The ability to create and animate character models, while greatly valued, is not required; I have some people who can do models and I might be able to bug them into it, but I for sure do need someone who can draw up designs.

This project allows for a LOT of creative freedom; I'll have some basic guidelines (with plenty of reference material, I promise) and I'll reserve the right to have some input on the character designs but for the most part I'll leave them up to you, and as such you can basically go crazy. It also should be a lot of fun. I don't want to spread the game summary around in public too much for now, but if you post here, PM me, comment on this journal, or email me at mamthew42@gmail.com, I'll give you the summary link so you can see what I mean. Seriously, this project should be a blast.

Oh and I plan to sell the game, so if it sells you'll get money. I'm planning to pay a dollar per game sold, so we sell a thousand copies, that's a thousand bucks, etc

If you're interested, please contact me for more information!

Also if there's any info here that I'm missing, let me know and I'll add it!

Wow, that sounds really fun!

To be quite honest, it has been a dream of mine to work together on a game with a group of friends. Working on games in general is something I have always wanted to do, which is why I practice spriting a lot and plan to learn some programming languages.

As much as I would really love to join in with this, I don't think I'd manage to be much help. At the moment, my only skill is spriting -- and even then I don't think I'm a good enough spriter yet. I don't think I'd be too good at coming up with nice and original character designs.

I wish you and your team the best of luck, though!

Well, all we do really, is music. I am learning computer programming at the moment, but I am nowhere near the level required for a game. If you already have a composer, than that's cool I guess. But music is our forte.

Nice! I would love to help out, but unfortunately I do not have the time or experience. I want to help make games when I grow up, although I don't know any programming languages or how to model.

But it's against the rules. It says so ri--aww, crud.

The rules were hosted on the main site, so you can't even look at them anymore. I guess I don't have any proof that you're doing something wrong.

Still! Nobody wants to see that. I don't think you're making a good first impression of yourself.

I have proof you're doing something wrong. Consider this a verbal warning before I start giving you warning points. Seriously.

This. This post here is spam. You're making a pointless post that's unrelated to the subject and doesn't contribute to the conversation in any way, and that's against the rules. What's more, when someone asked you to stop, you told him you wouldn't stop, which is strike two. I gave you a verbal warning, telling you not to do this again, and you respond by questioning me, spamming, AND double-posting - something else against the rules. I'm going to give you a warning point. If it happens again you get another. Three warning points and you get banned temporarily. Don't let it get to three. Understood?
