Let's Plays

Hey folks, everything sufficiently awesome? You might have heard about videos called Let's Plays. Basically, someone records themselves playing a videogame while providing humorous and informative commentary. It is much like a video walkthrough, but less formal. Some LPs aren't even videos, but screenshots with text to explain what is going on in each scene. There are many ways to make a Let's Play, live commentary, post commentary, voice commentary, text commentary, various recording methods, and so on. Different games support different ways to LP. Overall, there are a lot of facets to go over when making these things, and this thread is to discuss them, or even to discuss others that make them.

I would like to make Let's Plays but I don't have the items to make them.

I do Let's Plays. Here's my youtube channel.

Unlike most LPers, I do not comment with my voice. Instead I comment with a goofy, expressive avatar with a variety of emotions.

Most humor (if any!) comes from my amazingly terrible blunders and my reactions to said blunders. To some, it's probably not as entertaining as a voiced commentary. However, I have a lot of fun with this style and the (few) viewers I have seem to like it as well.

All of my LPs with commentary begin with "Kapus Plays". Sometimes I'll do quick playthroughs of smaller games that aren't really fit for commentary, like puzzle games or fighting games. These do not begin with "Kapus Plays", so it should be easy to distinguish. Some of the super old playthroughs on my channel use youtube commentary instead. They do not begin with "Kapus Plays", either.


Although I greatly enjoy RPGs and play them often, I do not really think they are suitable for text commentary. However, a forum post LP might actually work well for some RPGs, so I have been considering doing one.
